Savannah Jazz exists for musical artists.  In this spirit, we are sharing resources to help guide you financially through these tragic times when many artists are out of work.

Georgia Department of Labor Relief for Self Employed, Gig Workers and 1099 Independent Contractors:

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), part of the CARES Act: Learn More and Apply Here

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA, is the program that will provide unemployment benefits to those not ordinarily eligible for them. This includes individuals who are self-employed, gig workers, 1099 independent contractors, or those with limited work history who will not qualify for state unemployment benefits.

>The National Endowment for the Arts
has shared national arts resources and guidelines to distribute funding to nonprofit arts organizations from the CARES Act to preserve jobs and help support organizations forced to close operations due to the spread of COVID-19.  The application opens on April 22. Learn more here.

SBA Paycheck Protection Relief Loan Program helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll. SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities. > Express Bridge Loan Pilot Program
 allows small businesses who currently have a business relationship with an SBA Express Lender to access up to $25,000 quickly. Apply here.

These loans can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing and can be a term loans or used to bridge the gap while applying for a direct SBA Economic Injury Disaster loan. If a small business has an urgent need for cash while waiting for decision and disbursement on an Economic Injury Disaster Loan, they may qualify for an SBA Express Disaster Bridge Loan.

Artist Relief from Arts Organizations

>The Jazz Road Quick Assist Fund is a new, temporary emergency relief fund for jazz artists around the country who have lost work due to the COVID-19 pandemic and response. Through this fund, we are offering a limited number of $1,000 grants to artists whose tours and gigs in March, April, or May 2020 have been cancelled. Apply here.

 

> Jazz Foundation of America’s Musicians Emergency Fund provides help for elder Jazz and Blues Musicians in the form of rent, utility and food assistance.

 

>The Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable foundation MusiCares® have established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help our peers in the music community affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Request relief here.

 

>The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) has created the Actos de Confianza micro-grant initiative to support Latin artists and arts administrators whose work has been adversely impacted by COVID-19. Emergency financial assistance is available for individuals who are currently unable to pay their immediate and basic living expenses – such as food, housing, healthcare and childcare –because of the current public health situation. >Musician Foundation helps professional musicians by providing emergency financial assistance in meeting current living, medical and allied expenses.  Apply for their grant here.

> Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed to better identify and address the needs of artists. >The Actors Fund Entertainment Assistance Fund provides emergency assistance to professional artists facing professional or work related problems.  Eligible applicants include but are not limited to – actors, dancers, musicians, stagehands, playwrights, those working behind the scenes and below the line.

 

>The Musicians Foundation provides emergency assistance for musicians of any genre in a time of acute need, due to personal, medical, dental, or family crisis, natural disaster, or other emergency situation. Apply here.
