Inspired by early Blues and Swing and great musicians like Jelly Roll Morton and Art Tatum, Stephen Gordon’s first instrument was the piano and then he turned to brass instruments and the drums. After graduating from the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, NC he attended the Shenandoah Conservatory in 2003 and began working in the D.C. area and New York.

Gordon has performed with great musicians as Ellis Marsalis, Wayne Henderson, Oteil Burbridge, Maceo Parker, Joey DeFrancesco, Allen Toussaint, Jason Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis and many others. Gordon lives in Charlotte, NC from where he continues to tour with his quartet and special guests.
